In addition, a weighted conveyor belt was placed on the roof of the filter. This is done to simplify and accelerate the removal of the old medium.

One half of the filter was first emptied and filled, so the other half could continue operating.

The grid floor was swept broom clean and the short-circuit foil repaired where it was broken. Azobé hardwood floor grids which were broken were then replaced or repaired. The pressure chambers of the filter were cleaned by hand.

To install Biofilter  material at this height a crane was used which continually raises and lowers a 4 m³ container in and out of the filter. Due to its large surface area, the entire filter was finished with a laser at the exact agreed height.
The biofilter material was professionally installed by Odour Balance. Coarsely shredded root biomass (+/- 1,900 m³) is used as filter medium; the medium is covered with wood chips (+/- 450m³).
The old filter material (+/- 1.500 m³) was removed by Odour Balance. The entire project was completed in 8 working days, the factory continued to operate during this period.
